Samsung Galaxy S Light Luxury unveiled in China with Infinity Display and Bixby dedicated button

 



In the past few weeks, there have been rumours flying around about the ongoing production of a purported Galaxy S8 Lite by Samsung, a lower variant of the Galaxy S8. This is an alleged response by Samsung to the poor market returns of its 2018 flagships. The Samsung Galaxy S Light sports a 5.8-inch Infinity Display on a Super AMOLED panel with FHD+ 2,220 x 1,080 screen resolution. The phone features the same battery size as the Samsung Galaxy S8 with a 3,000 mAh battery. This comes with a support for both fast wireless and wired charging. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset can be found under the hood, which offers the same CPU performance with the Galaxy S8, but lower GPU power. In the memory department, there is a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

In the photography section, the Samsung Galaxy S Light sports a 16MP sensor rear shooter with f/1.7 aperture. It is capable of recording 4K video at 30 fps. The front camera is an 8MP selfie sensor with f/1.7 aperture.Samsung Galaxy S Light

It features a rear positioned fingerprint sensor, iris scanner and a Bixby dedicated button. It also comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an AKG in-ear headset.

The Samsung Galaxy S Light will run on an Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with some pre-loaded replacement apps like Golder Map for the Google apps. The phone is only available in Burgundy Red with Black Night version set to be released in coming months.

The phone is available for sale in China and priced at CNY 4,000 (about N225,000) which is the exact price of a Galaxy S9. We are yet to figure out why Samsung produced a lite version of Galaxy S8, only for it to sold at the same price as Galaxy S9.
