Samsung Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 officially unveiled in India

Samsung launched a new set of smartphones – Samsung Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 – from its J line-up today in India. The OEM company also announced that the Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus which were released earlier this year will now be available for sale in the Indian market.
The smartphones are designed for affordability and selfie pictures. They all sport an Infinity Display, an edge-to-edge screen like the ones found on Galaxy S9, and they feature a new “Chat Over Video” software that enables users to reply messages through a semi-transparent interface while also watching videos.
Samsung Galaxy J6
The Samsung Galaxy J6 sports a 5.6-inch AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio and HD+ 720 x 1440 screen resolution. It runs on Samsung’s Exynos 7870 chipset with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU running at 1.6GHz, and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via the microSD card slot.
It will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Samsung’s UI, powered by a 3,000mAh battery. It also sports a rear fingerprint sensor, a micro-USB port, a headphone jack, and facial recognition technology.
The Samsung Galaxy J6 features a single 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and an 8MP selfie camera with LED flash capable of shooting at three different levels of brightness.

The 3GB RAM variant will be priced at about N73,800 while the 4GB variant at about N87,000.
Samsung Galaxy J8
The bigger brother Samsung Galaxy J8 with a tall 6-inch AMOLED screen with 720p+ resolution and HD+ display. It is surely the most expensive of the two phones with a price tag of about N100,800.
Under the hood, it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It is powered by a bigger 3,500mAh battery.
In the camera section, the Galaxy J8 sports a dual rear camera setup of a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 lens plus a 5MP secondary camera with f/1.9 aperture. The front selfie camera is also a 16MP shooter with a LED flash.
The smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and will be available for sale as from July.
Samsung also announced that anyone buying the Galaxy J6 and J8 through ICICI Bank credit cards or Paytm will receive an INR 1,500 (~N7,920) cashback.
The smartphones are available in Blue, Black, and Gold colours on Samsung website.
