Android Jellybean Runs on 40% Of Android Smartphones – Google Reports


According to Google reports, android Jellybean is now on 40% of android devices..

Android developers dashboard page shows that jellybean is currently on 40.5% of android smartphones in July, compared to 37.9% in June, that is an increase of about 2.6 percent.

The Icecream Sandwich is the third most used android version making up 22.5% of android devices used last month , right behind the Gingerbread version.

Android 4.3 Is The Latest version of the Jellybean and is currently available on the Nexus 4 and 7 II smartphones , but i wonder why Google chose to run Android 4.2.2 version on its newly released Moto X

  1. Google seems to have their hand on everything. I think they now want to go fully into devices. Please the new released phone that was said to be sold at 13k in Nigeria, has it been released?

  2. Android version 4.1 through 4.3, codenamed Jelly Bean, is a legacy version of Google’s mobile OS. Jelly Bean put a renewed focus on UI speed and responsiveness, while further enhancing the UI introduced in Android 4.0. Version 4.1 brought a completely redesigned notification API, allowing notifications to be expanded to include widget-like functionality. A re-vamped Google search interface included the ability to pose questions directly and have them answered in voice. And a new Camera app allowed shots to be easily reviewed and deleted. In addition, the new Google Now predictive search service puts data like location and search history to work to provide relevant real-time information.

  3. Jelly Bean (as Android 4.1) made its debut on the (original) Nexus 7 tablet at Google I/O in June 2012. This was followed by a maintenance upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean later in the year, coinciding with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 launch. Android 4.2 featured new lock screen widgets, more improvements to the stock Android camera app, gesture-based typing and new quick settings shortcuts accessible via the notification bar.

For a graphics performance boost, the hardware-accelerated 2D renderer now optimizes the stream of drawing commands, transforming it into a more efficient GPU format by rearranging and merging draw operations.   7. Android 4.3 also improves rendering for shapes and text. Shapes such as circles and rounded rectangles are now rendered at higher quality in a more efficient manner. Optimizations for text include increased performance when using multiple fonts or complex glyph sets (CJK), higher rendering quality when scaling text, and faster rendering of drop shadows

  8. Improved window buffer allocation results in a faster image buffer allocation for your apps, reducing the time taken to start rendering when you create a window.

  9. For highest-performance graphics, Android 4.3 introduces support for OpenGL ES 3.0 and makes it accessible to apps through both framework and native APIs. On supported devices, the hardware accelerated 2D rendering engine takes advantage of OpenGL ES 3.0 to optimize texture management and increase gradient rendering fidelity

  10. Android 4.3 introduces platform support for Khronos OpenGL ES 3.0, providing games and other apps with highest-performance 2D and 3D graphics capabilities on supported devices. You can take advantage of OpenGL ES 3.0 and related EGL extensions using either framework APIs or native API bindings through the Android Native Development Kit (NDK)
