To fulfil its promise of releasing a Flipkart-exclusive smartphone in the Indian market at the unveiling of the Chinese tech company’s partnership with Flipkart, ASUS launch Zenfone Max Pro M1 today, at an event in New Delhi, India. The budget-friendly smartphone aims to take on a successful Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a 6-inch IPS Full HD+ screen (2160 x 1080) with 18:9 tall display. The screen has no Gorilla glass protection but it’s scratch-resistant and comes with oleophobic protection.
It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset which is claimed to be 50% more faster and more efficient than Snapdragon 635, its predecessor. Powered by a 5,000mAh battery with a 2A/10W charger for a quick charge in less than three hours. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 comes in two memory variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage – each one having its own camera specifications, also featuring a three slot tray for two 4G Sims and a memory card.
The phone really shines in the camera section, sporting rear dual-camera. A 13MP sensor with a 5MP shooter, allowing the use of the bokeh effect and portrait camera mode. It features an 8MP selfie camera at the front with LED flash, also coming with a portrait camera mode. Meanwhile, the 4/64GB variant features a 16MP+5MP rear camera and 16MP selfie shooter.
ASUS drops its own ZenUI for a pure Android 8.1 Oreo, which offers a better performance and user experience. The company also promises to release new OS updates very soon that includes Face Unlock feature.
The smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart and the first flash sale is set for May 3. The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro comes in Meteor Silver and Deepsea Black. The 3GB/32GB variant is priced at $166 (N59,760) and the 4GB/64GB vwriant will cost $196 (N70,560).
