Blackberry unveils the DTEK60, a security conscious phone with charms of a premium device


The last quarter of each year always proves to be a busy one for the smartphone market as new smartphones are introduced almost simultaneously by various smartphone brands. One of the smartphone brands we have expected an announcement from is Blackberry. And the Canadian based company has finally announced the much anticipated sequel and older brother to the DTEK50, the DTEK60.

DTEK60 like it’s predecessor is a security conscious phone with Blackberry’s own security stamp on it. The device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clubbed with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal memory expandable via micro SD card upto 2TB.

On the surface, DTEK60 carries a 5.5-inches screen with Quad HD resolution. The screen is scratch and smudge resistant. So no worries about scratching but that doesn’t mean you will have put it to the test. The device comes with a metal body.

For pictures and videos, DTEK60 is equipped with an 21MP camera sporting a dual LED flash, PDAF (phase detection and autofocus) and an 8MP front camera.


The device is powered by a 3,020mAh battery and runs Android out of the box. DTEK60 will come with other features that are unique to Blackberry devices, features such as; Blackberry hub, the Blackberry calendar, the Blackberry smart key for accessing your most used features easily.

DTEK60 is good the device for the specs it offers. It’s price tag of $499 makes it even better. The device is currently available to customers in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands. Other countries will be announced in the coming weeks. Blackberry is also giving an offer to people who order early. Customers in Canada and the United States will be getting a DTEK60 Soft Shell and Rapid Charger for free while customers in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands will receive a DTEK60 Pocket Case and
Rapid Charger for free. This offer is available until 8 November at 5:59 am GMT.
