Today makes it 12 years since the inception of Facebook. The social network is celebrating its birthday as the ‘friends day’, according to CEO Mark Zukerberg. To celebrate the occasion, the social network will be releasing a Facebook friend’s day video which compiles a users friendship history and other memorable events, that has taken place since you joined Facebook.
The Facebook friend’s day video is editable and can be shared with your friends as a post. Facebook users will start seeing the videos starting from today, in case you see a video at the top of your page, don’t be surprised. Furthermore, the social network will be introducing new ‘sticker packs’ called “Best Friends” and “Friendship.” These packs are now available for free download, in the Sticker Store, via FB Messenger or at Facebook.com/stickers.
In addition to releasing a Facebook friend’s day video and sticker pack, Facebook announced in the blog post that the degrees of separation between a typical pair of Facebook users has continued to decrease to 3.57 degrees, down from 3.74 degrees in 2011. This is a significant reflection of how closely connected the world has become. The company further cited that the global Facebook community has doubled in size over the past five years.
