‘Facebook live video streaming’ added to Android Facebook app

Watching video through Android has being in existence for quite sometime as well as a host of other cool functions accessible through the Facebook Android app. Regardless, the capability to share real-time videos was never added to the Facebook Android app, ‘was’ because Facebook has just announced the addition of this feature via Facebook newsroom.

According to the newsroom post “Facebook Live enables you to share your experiences and perspectives in real time, with the people who matter to you – whether you’re someone who wants to broadcast to friends and family, or a public figure who wants to connect with fans around the world.”

This new feature will be rolling out in phases, with the U.S being the first country that will get the Android update. The sequence in which other countries will receive their Android update was not mentioned in the newsroom post, however it should be expected soon, considering the manner with which the Facebook reactions update and other new updates have circulated quickly.

Here are the steps on how to use Facebook live video streaming, just so you are prepared when the feature finally arrives. “To share live video, simply tap “What’s on your mind?” at the top of News Feed and select the Live Video icon. Same as sharing a written post, you can restrict the privacy of your Live video streaming to ‘Family’, ‘Friends’, ‘Public’, before going live. While broadcasting, you will see the number of live viewers, the names of friends watching and you will be able to respond to live comments. Your broadcasted video will be saved to your timeline – you can do what you so please with it.
