Google reportedly made $31 billion from Android OS

Google has reportedly made $31 billion dollars in revenue off their Android franchise, with $22 billion dollars of the $31 billion dollars as profit. The accrued revenue, dates back to the inception of Android in 2008. This is the first time a figure has been released on the profit made by Android, although, the search engine giant releases statements of quarterly earnings, that of Android is merged with other revenue made from Google ventures.

This new revelation came to light during a court hearing of the case between Google and Oracle. The latter sued the former for using its java program in making Android without due compensation. Oracle made this announcement in court in a bid to estimate how much Google will pay as compensation for damages, the search engine giant was said to have made frantic efforts for the revenue statement to be redacted stating that Oracle’s lawyer disclosed very sensitive information marked “Attorney’s Eyes Only.” Obviously this move was unsuccessful.

Also the Android is the most popular smart phone operating system, therefore, Ad’s will be a great on the platform.

The case between Oracle and Google has being in the court for over five years now and is still ongoing. Oracle has extended their claims to cover recent Android versions, and are now seeking over 1 billion in damages from Google, for not paying for the platform.
