Design And Display

Hands On , the first thing that greeted my eyes was the 3.5′ inch HVGA LCD display. Of course , 3.5′ inches is very small but looks and feel very portable , can easily be covered by a large palm. But I’m not impressed with the display material. It is made of “light glass” and can easily get cracked if carelessly handled , not the durable type.

The body is made of Plastic cover , Dosent give you the premium feel on hand. The main positive about the design is that it has a light weight , so it dosent really feel like you’re holding anything.

Software And Performance

MTN Smart S620 Runs On Android 4.2 Jellybean and that’s a huge positive , considering the fact that it has 512MB RAM and 1Ghz Processor. It also has a 4GB ROM (internal storage) and can be expanded to 32GB.

Overall the device had an average performance. Initially , I had no problem running and closing apps but the phone began to freeze when I ran too many apps at the same time. So you have to run few apps at a time to get the best performance.

The MTN Smart S620 device can play normal games like temple and angry birds but High quality and memory eating games like grandtheft auto and Fifa 15 Ultimate Team will not work.

Camera

The camera is a huge disappointment. In a world where selfie reigns , 2MP camera resolution is far below average. I tested the camera and it didn’t give me the desired result. The picture quality is poor. Also , The Camera flash light is very dim , So taking pictures at night isn’t soo cool. Here are some pictures I took with the camera a little past afternoon.

Battery Life

The major drawback of this device is its 1,300mAh , Far below average. In a country where the power supply is epileptic , One will expect a better battery life from MTN but No , The Smart S620 isn’t built for that. But a 4200mAh powerbank will solve your battery problem.

Other Facts

==> It comes with 1year free warranty

==> It is a dual SIM device and you can also use any SIM On it.

==> It comes with free MTN simcard.

My Verdict

Overall , Its a nice phone and a good debut for MTN. Perhaps their next device will be more impressive than this. The MTN Smart S620 is quite affordable and will best serve as a backup device.
