HMD Global rumoured to be working on a Nokia A1 Plus With Snapdragon 845 SoC, in-display fingerprint sensor

So, far it has been a great year for HMD global with the revival of the Nokia brand already taking shape and it’s competing with major smartphone brands on the market. The rumour making rounds now is that the company is working on a smartphone named Nokia A1 Plus,
which will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC.

From the report on WinFuture website which was posted this morning, HMD Global is working with its manufacturing partner Foxconn to build the smartphone, which is speculated to look like the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

WinFuture happened to have gotten hold of some documents which reveal part of the phone details including the phone name and variants. An “A1 Plus Euro” variant is guessed to be launched in the European markets due to its “Euro” moniker.

The rumoured Nokia A1 Plus may feature a OLED panel manufactured by LG Display which has the capability to support the in-display biometric security. The Snapdragon 845 chipset will be a first for any HMD Global branded smartphone, same as the in-display fingerprint sensor. Based on the promises HMD Global made, we were expecting the phone to also run on Android 9.0 P.

Due to alleged camera setup problems on the phone, the company is said to have cancelled its mid-2018 unveiling plan, and have shifted the Nokia A1 Plus release to around August or September during the IFA 2018.

WinFuture did report that the Nokia A1 Plus may be nothing more than the rumoured Nokia 9. If this is correct, then the phone may sport a 6.01-inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass 5, 3900mAh battery, 8GB RAM/256GB of internal storage, an IP68 rating, and surprisingly a Carl Zeiss optics triple rear camera setup with LED flash and 4X optical zoom.
