Instagram is set to change their news display style from chronological order to algorithm style. The former entails that pictures and news appear on the news feed of the picture sharing site in the order with which they where posted. While the latter entails that pictures and news are displayed based on what should be most important to you i.e Instagram automatically prioritizes the posts based on your relationship with followers.
This coming adoption sees Instagram toeing the steps of their big brother or owner, Facebook. It is interesting to see how die hard IG users respond to this. Instagram states that most people miss on average 70 percent of their feeds. This is owed to the social media’s growth, which has made it hard to keep up with all the photos and videos people share. This fact and that of improving user experience are the reasons why Instagram wants to make the change.
In case you are wondering what the downside of this change is; in reality, it means that some posts will not be visible in real-time – at the time of actual posting. On the other hand, you sacrifice seeing some posts by people who are probably not very important to you, for those that are close to you. Did I hear you say, who will be the judge of that, well, it is Instagram’s algorithm that will be the judge.
This change will take effect and Instagram has given room for your feedback’s and will probably respond accordingly. So, take your time trying out the feature in time or judging it with Facebook as a yardstick, and then air your opinion.
