Latest spec details of the LG G6, the first live image, and release date

When we discuss the mobile tech industry and its direction for 2017, we unwittingly look up to big brands such as Samsung, Apple, LG, Huawei, and some other few names to dictate the direction of the mobile industry in 2017. Although LG has lost the market share that once made them a top mobile brand as the South Korean company is currently sandwiched in the middle of the pack, boasting only 3.9 percent of the mobile market. LG is dominated at the top end by Samsung and Apple and at the low end by Chinese start phone maker’s who have saturated and completely taken over. However, LG still remains a strong force in the mobile industry. For that reason, the tech world looks forward to the unveiling of their 2017 flagship, the LG G6. Some concrete details on the specs of the device have been revealed and it is obvious LG would not be taking the revolutionary step they took with the LG G5. The G6 will be a non-modular water resistant device that has a Quad HD resolution screen with an unusual 2:1 body to screen ratio (meaning the device will be coming with ultra thin bezels and a large screen to body ratio). LG describes the LG G6’s screen as Quad HD+.

On the inside, the LG G6 is expected to debut with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which is somewhat obsolete considering the fact that the Qualcomm will announce the Snapdragon 835 later this year, in March/April. News sources have stated that LG would have to move the release date of the LG G6 if they want the device to sport the latest processor from Qualcomm. This choice does not sit well with LG as the company is looking for a good sales momentum that will change their fortunes. And what better way to do so than to release their device ahead of major competitors (Samsung and Apple). Consequently, the G6 will be unveiled during the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

To spell it out the changes coming to the LG G6. First, LG is ditching the removable battery feature. This has been a staple for most of their devices for years now. However, it has to go for the purpose of making the device water resistance. The LG G6 will also not be continuing the modularity of the LG G5. These are the two main features that will be dropped in the LG G6.

In all, we can say the mobile tech trend for this year is going to be focused on the screen to body ratio of devices; super thin bezels and large screens.

This is all we have on the LG G6. Be sure to follow our channels for updates on the device and a coverage of the unveiling event.

  1. Even though these specs are good. I know the phone’s price will be high. This is one of the things I don’t like about LG

  2. Nevertheless, 2017 has been a good year for the release of many wonderful Android phones. I happened to buy one so I know what I am saying.
