LG G7 ThinQ: Rumours, Specs and Release Date

After a huge G5 failure, LG made a comeback in 2017 with a successful G6, and it’s set to release LG G7 as the new flagship for its G series (or not) in the coming months.

Name and Release Date

There have been series of rumours about what LG will call their latest flagship. Apparently, LG does not want to continue using the G-series moniker, hoping to make a fresh new start for the LG G7 but still doesn’t want to use anything with one in the title. TechRadar recently put to bed all these rumours and speculations by revealing hands-on pictures of the smartphone loading with the name, LG G7 ThinQ.

This is an odd and weird name but not entirely new, as LG has already adopted the “ThinQ” for its LG V30 at CES earlier on this year. The pictures also revealed some features of the phone including the “notch” and the latest Snapdragon chipset. The phone is set to be released in May, that means, it could be announced in this month. According to reports from another source, the LG G7 code-named “Judy” may actually be launched in June.

For now, we are not so sure of the correct date but the latter report seems to be more reliable. LG hasn’t released any information on the launch date yet. We are only left to speculate.LG G7

Features and Specifications of LG G7

Evan Blass, the notorious leaker (not in a bad way) shared some alleged specs of the LG G7, from which we were able to find out to a degree (as all are still rumours) some specific specs of the phone. The LG G7 might sport an 18:9 aspect ratio 6-inch Full Vision display. With a below expectation reviews of the V30 and Pixel 2 XL’s LCD display, LG will be moving onto a new type of display panel − MLCD+.

The MLCD+ which is a recent technology in the mobile space is reported to use less power than the conventional IPS LCD panels and have a maximum brightness of 800-nits.

According to recent reports from ETNews, the reason for the panel change is completely different from the earlier rumour. The report stated that there will be two versions of the LG G7 − OLED display version and LCD display version. This is totally unexpected and un-understandable, but let see how this develops.

Samsung Galaxy S8 got one over LG G6 last year by coming with a Snapdragon Qualcomm 835 which was the latest Qualcomm chipset back then while LG G6 settled for the Snapdragon 821 chipset which although is fast, but not as efficient and fast as the Snapdragon 835.

This is all we know about the LG upcoming flagship as at this time, stayed tuned to this space and our social media handles for more updates.
