LG promises timely software updates with new Software Upgrade Center

Late software updates will soon be a thing of the past as LG launches its own Software Upgrade Center at the company’s headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The facility is dedicated “towards providing customers worldwide with faster, timelier, smartphone operating system and software updates.”

LG further added in its press release that, “The Software Upgrade Center will not only be charged with developing and delivering regular OS updates for LG smartphones, it will also be responsible for ensuring a consistent user experience on LG devices by continuously testing the stability and compatibility between hardware and software after updates.

The creation of the centre will enable LG to roll out OS updates faster in countries where LG smartphones are available to ensure that customers around the world receive the same level of quality service.”

LG said one of the first projects that will be embarked upon once the centre is up and running is the launch of Android Oreo update on LG G6 before April runs out, first in the Korean market followed by other markets. And as Jo Seong-jin, CEO of LG Electronics, said, “stable and consistent upgrades will demonstrate to our customers that LG smartphones have long and reliable lifespans”, which shows their commitment towards improving their after-sales services.
