Meet Android 8.0 Oreo, the latest operating system for Android powered device’s

 


We now have a new Android OS with Google’s official announcement of the Android 8.0. The new OS has been in the works for months now, development began almost after Android 7.0 was announced. Google planned the unveiling of Android 8.0 to coincide with the Lunar eclipse that occurred in the US yesterday. The new Android OS is dubbed OREO. The OS was developed by Google and co-branded by Google and Mondelez. This makes it second Android OS developed through partnership in branding -the first was Android 4.4 kitkat, Google partnered with Nestle.

As expected, Android 8.0 comes with features that makes Android Nougat feel obsolete, the new features include; notification dots, fully redesigned emoji with over 60 new emojis, picture-in-picture support, Google Play Protect built-in, efficient battery management that limits background overuse of battery by apps, faster boot speeds, autofill system-wide, and support for Android Instant Apps.

The distribution of the new operating system will start with the uploading of OREO’s source code to the Android open source project, then devices registered for the beta testing program will be sent the latest OS after which Google’s Nexus and Pixel devices will get an update. Google stated that Android 8.0 will be available as updates for or launched with the latest devices by these manufacturers Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sony and Sharp.

Meanwhile, Blackberry seems to be prepared to make the latest OS available to Blackberry Keyone users as soon as possible. However, the date of the release is yet to be announced by the Canadian based company. For those us using devices not listed by Google you will have to wait for your phone manufacturer to announce if an update will be released or not. Infinix is known to provide timely updates, however; we will have to wait to see which OEM’s provide updates to their flagship device’s.

  1. Wow!! Android is upgrading very fast. This Latest Android Operatimg system will be competing with IPhone Operating system if not more than it

  2. To be on the top of the game in technology one needs to be upgrading, i am sure they must have a team just there finding loop holes to fix, i hope it gets to our part of the world

  3. I’d really love to meet it but apparently my less than a year old Oneplus 3T won’t be getting it because reasons.

  7. Google at it again. Earlier this year, it was 7.0 and 7.1, now this. I am sure before the year runs out, we should have 8.1 or 9.0.

  8. Google has released a number of beta versions of Android Oreo. It’s now available to download for developers and early adopters.

  9. The key message from Google is that this update is all about “Fluid Experiences” and “Vitals”. That essentially means things overlap, and flow together better on screen, and that it’s far more efficient than Nougat.

  10. Now, Google has announced this feature will be widely available in Google O for smartphones as a baked in feature.
