According to sources Nokia is planning to make a sensational return to the consumer mobile market Nextyear.
We can recall that last year Microsoft purchased Nokia for $7.12Bn and nokia cannot make any smartphones till December 31 2015 , but that was not a complete take over. After the deal with Microsoft, three divisions of Nokia remained free; their networking mapping , Equipment division and technology division.
Although the smallest , Nokia Technologies have been the most active of all three divisions. After the microsoft deal , Nokia Technologies was responsible for the launch of 2 products ; Z android Launcher and N1 Android Tablet.
Nokia licensed the N1 tablet to another manufacturer that is currently selling it under the Nokia name in China.
According to Recode , Nokia is eagerly waiting to get back into the game ; but this can only happen after the contract with Microsoft expires. The contract with Microsoft restricts them from making smartphones till Dec. 2015 and not allowed to license its name for use in phones till Q3 of 2016.
While Nokia’s return to the phone market is definitely exciting news, don’t expect them to be manufacturing in large scale as they do not have the infrastructure to do so. But we can expect production in capacities similar to the N1 tablet.
