Reports Show Samsung Has Sold More Smartphones Than Blackberry, Apple and Nokia combined
Should it be surprising? Is it something we should linger our thoughts on? Not really! But I must confess the figures I saw were really mind blowing. As compared to the major phone makers around the corner, Samsung has obviously stood strong even though Apple tried shaking them with some ‘accusations’.
Samsung is reported to have a boost of 7% as compared to last year. Samsung shipped out 120 million Smartphones in only one quarter.
The next largest shipment was from Nokia, which controls 15.5% of the mobile phone market (its share dropped from last year). Next is Apple with 8%, and LG with 4.4%. Apple saw a 26% rise from last year, which is very impressive.
These numbers show shipments, not sales, but that shouldn’t make a large difference. Samsung will do what is best for Samsung, like any other company. I don’t expect Samsung to suddenly really care about Tizen, or provide more than the token support they now offer.
We know compared to Apple, Samsung makes phones for all. Apple makes high classed phones so maybe that adds to the Samsung shipment spike. However, Samsung should be careful as fast rising Tecno Smartphones are swooping the market with their their ‘high tech cheap phones’.
Do you agree that Samsung can maintain that high position?
