For years, Lenovo has released solid devices famous for their top of the line specs, sturdy build, and great price. The Lenovo Tab3 8 Plus comes with these Lenovo-esque qualities. For a tab of its class and pricing, it is quite the beast on the spec sheet. The device offers more of everything than your average tablet. Priced just over 50,000 naira ($159), you should get your money’s worth with this one. That said, let us look at the specs of the device shall we?

Device Overview

The Lenovo Tab3 8 Plus comes with a matte plastic exterior; on the front, you will find a Full HD 8-inch screen. The screen has a good ppi (pixel per inch) of 283ppi, which is way more than the average 220ppi. A Corning Gorilla Glass protects the screen so it is a somewhat shatter poof, the body is engineered to be dirt proof, which means dirt does not stick to it.

The device runs on 3GB RAM and 16GB memory; it has an external memory slot that can support upto 64GB memory card. The memory setup is fused with a -SnapDragon 625 processor so there is little to no lag when using the device for normal and intensive tasks such as typing, calling, playing music, playing graphic intensive games while multitasking. That said, you might notice some lag when using the device to perform online activities.

The Tab3 8 Plus comes with high-spec cameras (at least, for its category), the main and front camera has 8MP and 5MP lenses respectively. The chunk of tech is powered by a moderate-sized 4250mAh battery, moderate-sized because similar tabs come with more juice. The battery allows a decent usage of 11 hours when the backlight is set to low brightness.  When playing videos, browsing, playing games or performing the listed activities simultaneously, you get a 7 hours use time.

The Tab3 8 Plus runs Android 6.0 out of the box, the UI is tidy and easy to use. It offers users four different operating modes, including, Media mode which increases the colour and screen brightness, kid mode – this mode alter the screen brightness and colour to promote healthy eyes, reading mode which reduces the brightness of the screen and a custom mode. The Tab also comes with a parental control setting which switches the UI to kids mode when it is engaged. The parental feature allows you to set up a personalized profile for each child, choosing the what apps they will have access to, activating safe browsing, whitelist or blacklist certain websites and even set the time they will be allowed to use the tablet.

At 326g and 208x123x8.8mm, the Tab3 8 Plus is neither too heavy nor too large. It can fit into most bags and allows easy grip (depending on your grip strength, your hand shouldn’t tire easily while holding the device).


The Tab3 8 Plus is not available worldwide. The reason why such a great mid-range tablet is not known in these parts.
