Tecno announces the Tecno Droid pad 8D (see specifications and pricing)

Tecno have been serving up devices back to back, recently. The Chinese company has served up another device, this time around it is a tablet that is quite unique. This new tablet is dubbed Tecno Droid pad 8D; a truly sleek device with a premium feel.
A major talk point of the Droid pad 8D is its metal unibody. The device sports an 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 800 x 1,280 pixels. Under the devices shell, a 64-bit Quad-core (1.0 GHz cortex A53) MediaTek processor handles the processes run by the device. The processor is fused with a Mali-T720 graphics processor – both processors should be quite sufficient in running multiple tasks and games. The system and graphics processor are fused with 1GB of RAM.
Another talk point of the Tecno Droid pad 8D is its front and back flash (front flash is a soft flash, back flash is LED flash) attached to a 2MP front camera and a 5MP back camera, based on the camera specs on paper the device should output decent pictures.
For storage, the Tecno Droid pad 8D has a 16GB internal storage space that is expandable up to 32GB. For connectivity, the Tecno Droid pad 8D impressively supports 4G LTE and below; the device also supports NFC. Droid pad 8D supports Dual SIM (Standard SIM + Micro-SIM). Bluetooth v4.0, USB, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, hotspot, GPS , microUSB 2.0; USB-OTG (OTG cable included in the box).
Powering the device is a non-removable 5,000mAh Li-on battery. The battery is enabled with quick charge and reserve charge capabilities. Droid pad 8D runs Android 5.1 Lollipop laced with Tecno’s HIOS – we feel that this is a let down considering the fact that the earlier released Tecno W4 had Marshmallow out of the box. The device will come in two colour variants, Champagne Gold and Grey.
Tecno Droid pad 8D’s specs firmly places it in the high low-end category of tablets, and the device sports a somewhat pocket friendly price tag of N42,000.
That’s all we have on the device, if you have any questions as regards the devices specification, availability and pricing share with us via the comment box. By the way, what do you think of the Droid pad 8D? Is it a competitive device in terms of specs and pricing?
