We are at the tail end of the second quarter of 2018 and a lot has happened.  For us in the mobile technology industry, a lot means big product announcements from top mobile manufacturers and network providers. This time, it is Infinix mobility making a big unveiling. The company will be taking the wraps off the latest successor (the Infinix Note 5) of the successful Note series in two days’ time. Yay! Exciting news, right?

Well, if you are an Infinix user and fan like some of us at AndroidNigeria, you should know why this news is exciting because you have an idea of what to expect from the Infinix Note 5. In case you have no idea, a little history lesson may work up some excitement. Going by history, Infinix Note device’s have a strong focus on the performance, durability, and visual experience. All the devices in the Note series have always debuted with features that ensure users get the best performance, durability, battery longevity, visual and photography experience possible. So the Infinix Note 5 will expectedly raise the bar set by its predecessor Infinix Note 4. At the moment, there is little information on the specifications of the device but with good old-fashioned research work and online eavesdropping, we have been able to gather some information, all of which are speculative until confirmed by the Chinese based company, therefore; it should be taking with a pinch of salt.

Debuting with the code name Infinix X604, the Note 5 will sport a 6.0-inch Full HD screen (2160 by 1080 pixels). The device will use the popular aspect ratio of the 18: 9 screen for an immersive viewing experience.


At the devices center, there will be a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space, it is likely that there is a Pro version that will carry larger RAM and ROM capacities, say 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM. That said, the memory setup is fused with an Octa-core 2.0 GHz MediaTek chipset. There is a Micro SD card slot for those who want to expand storage capacity with a microSD card.

Android 8.1 Oreo is pre-installed with the Android One Program, Infinix Note 5 also comes with a stylus like the one we saw on the Note 4 Pro device. For photography and videography, the device is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear shutter and the 16-megapixel front camera. It is safe to say that the device will be a portable professional camera.

Powering the machine is a humongous 4500 mAh battery that is said to be able to keep the device running for up to 72 hours (3 days). The Note 5 has dual SIM based on the 4G network option as expected.

Infinix Note 5 will be available in three colour variants: Ice Blue, Berlin Gray and Milan Black, after its launch on June 24, at an event that will take place in Dubai. It is currently available for pre-order through the Jumia Kenya online store. We will keep you informed when the device marks its debut in Nigeria.
