Have you ever felt like your Samsung’s stylus should be doing more than taking notes or controlling the device or is it just annoying carrying it around without having more to do with it? Hold that response because it may change soon, as it looks like Samsung has looked into the S-PEN’s abilities and are doing a lot to make it worth holding and using! Much hasn’t been revealed about the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or the new S-PEN either (speaking of specs), but this is all the crumbs we have managed to gather.
As seen by Droid Life in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s FCC filing, it confirms that there will be an S-Pen and it would be having Bluetooth functionality. Meanwhile, it has been surmised on Twitter that Samsung will be using it as a multi-purpose Bluetooth button. If at all it happens that way, the button could allow users to do some basic things; perhaps, things like pause and play music, take photos, answer or hang up on calls. It would be easy to think of Samsung giving the Bluetooth S-Pen other features, like a Tile-esque location option for tracking the pen in case you lose it or using the pen to find your phone by making the phone ring out!
By August 9th, when the unveiling of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 would take place, we will get to know all the details of the Bluetooth-equipped S-Pen abilities. We also hope it doesn’t fall below our expectations. Samsung is doing quite a lot in making the accessory more useful than just for touching screens.
