Twitter is ten years today

On this day, ten years ago, Twitter came to be. The online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets”.  Ever since the inception of Twitter the company has gained a massive user base and is still poised to become better.

The main catch of Twitter is the fact that it provides users with real time news; news come in quick fire succession, making it easy to start trends. The hashtags is another peculiar Twitter feature that has made numerous topic to trend. In real life, hashtags are even added to statements.

Twitter is the go to platform for celebrities to start their beefs, trolling and shading. Even, tech companies do this every now and then, as we have seen LG do Samsung of late. Besides the fighting and beefing, celebrities have also used Twitter for giveaways and giving back to fans. Well, what can we say but thank you Twitter and CEO Jack Dorset for helping the world connect better.

I believe this should be named Twitter day that should be observed only on Twitter, so take this time and enjoy the service. There are no signs that Twitter has plans of rolling out any interesting feature such as a memoir for today – just as Facebook did during its birthday.

Speaking of Twitter, do follow AndroidNigeria on Twitter, to get more update news on Android in Nigeria and diaspora.
