Update your Truecaller app to avoid data loss due to old version security flaw


As of late, security analysts from the Cheetah Mobile Security Research Lab found a major flaw in the popular telephone call administration application, Truecaller. This flaw permits anybody to take Truecaller client’s personal data, and possibly opens a loophole for hackers.

According to the researcher who made the discovery, Truecaller uses a phones IMEI as the main character name of its clients. Implying that anybody picking up the IMEI of a gadget will have the capacity to get a Truecaller client’s personal data and can alter application settings without client’s consent, presenting them to pernicious phishers.

The Cheetah Mobile Security Research Team said that they informed the developer of the Truecaller app about this weakness the flaw was discovered and offered everything it could to help the developer fix the issue. Presently the developer of Truecaller has tended to the issue and released an update on March 22nd. Nevertheless, most Truecaller app users are not out of the woods yet as most of them haven’t updated their applications to the hack proof version.
