Notifying contacts about change in phone number is just made easier by the latest WhatsApp update. This new WhatsApp feature allows you to notify your entire contacts or a particular segment.
This new feature is an extension of the Change Number feature that allowed users to migrate account information, groups, and settings. Features such as Advanced GIF Search and Sticker Search are expected to be out soon with the option to transfer money via QR codes was recently added by WhatsApp.
This new WhatsApp feature is now on the latest WhatsApp Android beta version (2.18.97), and it is expected to be available on iPhone and Windows Phone versions soon.
The feature can be accessed by navigating to WhatsApp Settings > Account > Change number. It would migrate your account info, groups, settings and chats, also the groups on your phone would be automatically notified. But in the current update, there are different options such as All contacts, Contacts I have chats with, and Custom.
According to WABetaInfo, a fan website that tracks upcoming WhatsApp features, the new feature allows you notify all contacts, contacts that you’ve chats with, or a particular contact, about change in phone number which is rolling out through a server-side update to WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.18.97.
The latest WhatsApp for Android beta is not yet available on Google Play but it can be installed manually by downloading it on APK Mirror.
The new feature will also be released on iPhone and Windows Phone but there’s no details on the release date yet. Well, this feature is definitely going to be super handy, especially to those who have to changed their number unexpectedly.
