After so many rumours, leaks and speculations, the Chinese tech company, Xiaomi, has finally announced its 2018 mid-range smartphone – Xiaomi Mi 6X. “The phone packs enough power to beat the likes of iPhone X and Oppo R15”, Xiaomi boasted.

The phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, a major improvement over Xiaomi Mi A1. The chipset is powerful enough to offer flagship-tier performance and features to mid-range phones. It is powered by a 3,010mAh battery with 3.0 quick charge support.

The main key feature of the Xiaomi Mi 6X is its dual-camera setup. It sports a primary 12 MP shooter with f/1.75 aperture and 1.25 μm pixel size. The secondary sensor is a 20 MP with f/1.75 aperture, enabling 12 different portrait modes and better photo shot in the dark. The Chinese company claims it has AI-powered scene recognition as well, giving it the ability to recognise over 200 scenes, objects, and subjects. Plus, it can learn through time to provide better details for face detection and gestures. The selfie shooter is 20 MP cam with Sony IMX376 sensor.

The phone comes in three variants – 4GB of RAM/64GB of memory, 6/64GB, and 6/128GB of memory. It sports a 6-inch LCD display with Full HD+ resolution, rear fingerprint, Face Unlock support for added security, a USB Type C port, but there’s no headphone jack.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X will run on Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box with Xiaomi’s MIUI 9.5. It comes in five colours – Cherry Pink, Flame Red, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue, and Black. The phone will be launched on the 27th of April at a set price of $250 (N90,000).

Although the Xiaomi Mi 6X is only available in China, we expect it to be released as Xiaomi Mi A2, just like Mi A1.
