Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 unveiled with Snapdragon 660, face unlock


In a time when people are slowly and steadily leaving Android tablets behind, the Chinese phone maker is still trying to draw people interest back to them with the release of Xiaomi Mi Pad 4. The new slate was unveiled alongside Redmi 6 Pro in China earlier today.

The tablet runs a Snapdragon 660 chipset which is on the upper mid-range section, it is clocked at 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 512 GPU. The device offers memory options of 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB of internal storage (they are non-expandable).Xiaomi Mi Pad 4

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 sports an 8-inch LCD display with WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) and 16:10 aspect ratio. The front-facing camera is a 5MP selfie shooter with AI-enhanced Face Unlock. At the back is a 13MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture, which comes with HDR mode, 1080p video recording and no LED flash.Xiaomi Mi Pad 4

The tablet will be powered by a 6,600 mAh battery with 10W charging through a USB-C port, putting the phone weight at 342.5 grams with a dimension of 200.2 x 120.3 mm and a slim 7.9 mm width.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 comes at affordable prices with the small 3GB RAM/32GB Wi-Fi variant sold at CNY1,099 (roughly N61,000), the larger 4GB RAM/64GB without LTE is priced at CNY1,399 (around N77,000). If you want a LTE version instead, the cellular-enabled 4GB RAM/64GB comes at a price tag of CNY 1,499 (roughly N33,000).

Like Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, the tablet is already available for pre-order with first sales slated for Friday, June 29. There are only two colour options: Black and Rose Gold. Like Redmi 6 Pro, we still don’t know when it will be launched in the global market.
